Pleasanton 2009 Veterans Day Parade

"The Devil Dogs"

The Veterans of Pleasanton (VOP) are pleased to announce the Upcoming Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on November 1st, 2009.

Each year the VOP honors a specific event or branch of service. This year the theme is “The Devil Dogs” with special tribute to the United States Marine Corp.

The parade will have almost 100 units including Military, Veteran, and Police color guards making it the largest parade in Alameda County.

In addition, there will be several Military Veteran units, Military Institutes, Cadets, Veteran Units, a huey helicopter, a MRAM Coyote and Scouts that will pass in review.

The review stand will be located in front of the old City Hall (museum) located on main street. The official reviewing officers will be Colonel Chris Buescher (USMC) and General Dan Helix (USA).

We will have US Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Master Sergeant Richard Pittman (USMC) as our Grand Marshall (click to view more information).

An enlisted marine in dress blues will lead our Riderless Horse in honor those Killed in Action in our current conflicts.

We will conduct a “Toys for Tots” along the parade route. (Co-sponsored by the US Marine and Pleasanton P-Town Pushrod Car Club). We hope although in a tough economy that spectators open their hearts to the less fortunate and bring a toy to the parade.

We encourage all VFW members and veterans to come and be a part of this event.
